Pro-Forme Solid Kits with Powerhead 1/2" Cutters

The Woodcut Tools Pro-Forme Hollowing System has been trusted by woodturners since 1995 for controlled, freehand hollowing. Designed for larger hollow forms, the Pro-Forme Solid range combines heavy-duty 5/8" solid shafts with the renowned 1/2" Pro-Forme Powerhead, delivering strength, stability, and clean shaving performance.

Each kit includes a Pro-Master Handle together with a 1/2" Pro-Forme Powerhead on every shaft. The Starter Kit includes one 1/2" Powerhead, the Intermediate Kit includes two, and the Advanced Kit includes three. Having a Powerhead supplied with every shaft means each tool is ready to use immediately, eliminating the need to swap cutters while moving between different shaft profiles during a hollowing project.

At the heart of every kit is the 1/2" Pro-Forme Powerhead. Its distinctive cutter shape, inspired by the curved form of French tapestry tools, features a narrow nose for efficient end grain cutting, while the open side profile, often referred to as the "big exhaust", clears shavings quickly and efficiently. The tall bevel profile allows the turner to roll smoothly on and off the cut, producing controlled, flowing shavings rather than dust.

Starter Kit

Includes a Straight Shaft with 1/2" Powerhead and Pro-Master Handle.

Ideal for creating the opening and removing wood down the sides and across the bottom of the vessel.

Intermediate Kit

Includes Straight and Bent Shafts, each fitted with its own 1/2" Powerhead, plus a Pro-Master Handle.

The Bent Shaft allows controlled cutting beneath the shoulder of the hollow form.

Advanced Kit

Includes Straight, Slightly Bent and Bent Shafts, each fitted with its own 1/2" Powerhead, plus a Pro-Master Handle.

Every 1/2" Powerhead is easily removable, allowing the same shaft to be fitted with the Pro-Scraper Adaptor and cutters or the Little Wonder Cup Tool, giving you the flexibility to tailor your setup as your hollowing project progresses.

Looking for a more economical way to build your system? Pro-Forme Solid Shafts are also available individually with or without a 1/2" Powerhead. Many turners begin with a single Powerhead and simply move it between shafts as required. As their collection grows, additional Powerheads can be added so every shaft has its own cutter ready to use.
