DETAILING/CARVING WITH WOODCUT TOOLS

Born out of the need to hold chuck mounted, turned work for embellishing.

The Woodcut Tools Pro-Mount was developed from the need to securely hold chuck-mounted turned work for embellishment, carving, and detailing. Designed in 2006 by previous Woodcut owner Peter Hewitt in collaboration with New Zealand turner Terry Scott, the Pro-Mount was created to be more than a carving stand.

Its key advantage is simple. A freshly turned vessel can remain mounted in the chuck while being moved from the lathe to the Pro-Mount for carving, texturing, or decoration, then returned directly to the lathe for final turning. With two handles for secure grip and controlled rotation, the Pro-Mount gives the turner confidence to reposition the work while keeping it stable and safely held throughout the process.

Flexible Workholding for Detailing and Carving

The Pro-Mount is designed to give turners flexibility in how and where they work. It can be mounted using a suitable tool post on the lathe banjo, or paired with the optional bench plate for mounting to a bench or other suitable surface. This gives turners the freedom to create a setup that suits their workshop and style of work.

Vacuum Chuck Compatible

The Pro-Mount spindle features a machined hole through the centre and a 1/4 inch BSP thread at the base for an airline fitting. This allows the option of using a vacuum chuck as a means of workholding, adding even more versatility to the system.
