represents the next generation of precision sharpening. Developed through years of collaboration and feedback from turners worldwide, this upgraded rest delivers exceptional stability, repeatability, and ease of use when sharpening your woodturning tools.
Woodcut Tools founder Ken Port, together with US turner Jerry Glaser, first designed the original Tru-Grind in the late 1990s to make sharpening more simple, accurate, and repeatable
for turners of all abilities. In 2020, with feedback from customers and professional turners around the world, Woodcut Tools began developing a higher-spec Premium Base Slide and Sturdy Rest, tested extensively over three years before its release in 2023.

Wide platform for superior stability
– The 110 mm-wide plate provides solid support, especially when sharpening scrapers, ensuring smoother, more consistent grinds.
Precision repeatability
– Numerical laser-etched markings on the platform and arm allow you to accurately repeat your preferred sharpening setup every time.
Simple height adjustment
– Machined holes on the arm make it easy to adjust for 6" or 8" grinding wheels.
Dual-side compatibility
– Attaches to the Tru-Grind Premium Base Slide from the front, making it suitable for both left- and right-hand
setups.
Quick and secure positioning
– The arm locks firmly in place during sharpening for safety and control, yet swings down out of the way when using the Tru-Grind Tool Holder.
Built to last
– Constructed from thick plate steel to eliminate flexing and finished with a durable powder-coated surface for long life.
Installation
Simply insert the Tru-Grind Premium Sturdy Rest into the Tru-Grind Premium Base Slide, refasten the end cap, and you’re ready to sharpen.
