What is CBN
CBN, or Cubic Boron Nitride, is a super abrasive material similar in performance to synthetic diamond and second only to diamond in hardness. It is created from boron and nitrogen crystals which are electroplated onto a steel wheel core. CBN wheels have been used in industrial grinding for many years and are now available for bench grinders used in woodturning. They remove metal cleanly, stay cool, and maintain their shape throughout their life which makes them ideal for sharpening high speed steel turning tools.
