The Woodcut Tools Pro-Forme 1/2" Powerhead
is the heart of the Pro-Forme Solid Hollowing System. Specifically engineered for end grain hollowing, it combines the cutting efficiency of the traditional hook tool with modern design features that deliver greater control, efficient shaving clearance, and an excellent finish directly from the tool.
Whether you're replacing an existing Powerhead or expanding your Pro-Forme system, this complete assembly allows you to fit a Powerhead to additional Pro-Forme Solid shafts, so each shaft is ready to use without swapping heads during a hollowing project.

The Pro-Forme Powerhead is an evolution of the traditional hook tool, refined over many years through customer feedback and practical woodturning experience.
Its distinctive design incorporates several unique features:
Narrow nose
for efficient end grain cutting.
Broad cutting edge
for rapid side grain removal while producing an excellent finish directly from the tool.
Large side opening, often referred to as the "big exhaust", allowing shavings to clear quickly and efficiently.
Tall bevel profile
enabling the turner to roll smoothly on and off the cut, much like using a bowl gouge.
Adjustable brass safety gauge
to control the depth of cut and help prevent dig-ins.
The result is a hollowing cutter that produces controlled, flowing shavings rather than dust, giving the turner confidence throughout the hollowing process.
