WHY STELLITE? - While bowl coring the cutter will probably need to withstand shocks caused by knots and defects in the wood. To minimise sanding the turner will also want to produce an excellent finish off the tool. Given the wide range of cutter options available, including Carbide, Woodcut Tools researched what cutters worked well in sawmill operations. Woodcut Tools established that Stellite was commonly used for saw tipped bandsaws and recognised for the unique ability to withstand shocks from knots, stones and nails in the wood. Proven on hard and soft woods also delivering an excellent wood finish and experience a long operational life with great wear resistance. The Stellite cutter can be hollow ground. Each Bowlsaver blade includes a Stellite cutter.
Why are the Stellite cutters welded onto the blades? The answer is simple, Stellite is simply too hard to create a screw hole in it. T his density provides the resilience and long life for the cutter.
A Bowlsaver Light guide is also available as an additional purchase.
